Later in May, we celebrated Volunteers’ Day with a delicious high tea for all of our beautiful volunteers who put their hearts and souls into TTHA. Our volunteers make a huge contribution to the lives of our residents, come from all walks of life and different backgrounds and are only too willing to share their own life experiences and listen to the life stories our residents have to tell. Volunteers will assist in so many areas around TTHA, including our international volunteers who also spend 12 months with us, accommodated in an adjoining hostel and are constantly attending to our residents’ needs. Whether it’s just a visit and a chat, joining in various activities, participating in exercise classes, accompanying residents on walks and outings, tending to the gardens and outdoor areas or sharing their musical talents and reading to residents our volunteers dedicate a great deal of their time on a regular basis. Of course our volunteers are not just in-house, but also part of our external activities, day trips, excursions and our Home Care visits to many residents outside of TTHA. We are ever so grateful for their generosity and compassion and the time they take out of their own lives to make someone else’s a little more special.
