Yes. If you receive ongoing services through Support at Home, you have the right to change providers at any time and for any reason.
Your needs, preferences and circumstances can change. You may be looking for different services, clearer communication, better availability or simply a provider that feels like a better fit. Whatever your reason, the choice is yours.
Before making the change, check your service agreement, compare providers and agree on an exit date so your services can continue as smoothly as possible.
If you do have concerns about your current services, you can also speak with your provider about them before deciding whether you want to change.
Before you change, think about what you want to be different
Before searching for another provider, think about what's most important to you and what you're looking for in a provider:
⏹️The service I need
⏹️Reliable service available
⏹️More flexibility around my routine
⏹️️Clear, responsive communication
⏹️Transparent costs and fees
⏹️Feeling listened to and understood
⏹️Support that reflects my goals and preferences
Knowing what matters most to you can make it easier to compare providers and ask the right questions.
Under current Support at Home arrangements, providers cannot charge an entry or exit fee for changing providers.
However, it is still important to review your existing service agreement and understand your individual arrangements before making the change, including any required notice period.
You have the right to raise concerns about the services you receive.
Sometimes a conversation with your provider may resolve an issue.
But you don't have to remain with a provider simply because you've been receiving services from them.
You have the right to make choices about your aged care and to be involved in decisions that affect you.
If you're considering a change, start with a conversation.
