Change a Life
Become a volunteer visitor. Build real connections and make a lasting difference through the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS).
Did you know that over 1.2 million older Australians live alone?
Loneliness is a pressing issue, especially for older Australians who may experience isolation as they age. Tabulam & Templer Homes for the Aged (TTHA) is actively addressing this concern through the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, funded by the Australian Government. Since 2023, we have connected volunteers with over 70 elderly individuals, fostering meaningful relationships and bringing much-needed companionship to their lives. This initiative not only brightens the days of those we serve but also strengthens the sense of community and support around them.
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS)
The ACVVS focusses on older individuals from linguistic, cultural and complex vulnerability backgrounds who may be at high risk of social isolation due to various reasons:
- Limited contact with family or friends
- Mobility or other health issues
- Cultural and linguistical differences
- Financial or social disadvantage
- Being different in any way
Make a positive difference
Use your skills in a rewarding way, increase your self confidence and have a positive impact on someone’s health and wellbeing.
There are many ways you can provide friendship and companionship to older people in our community such as:
Discussing Interests
Engaging in a conversation about history, politics, sports or their interests brings lively discussions and meaningful connections, making every exchange enriching and enjoyable.
Sharing a Cuppa
Simply sitting together and sharing a cup of tea or coffee can offer the comforting companionship an elderly person might need.
Playing a Game
Playing their favorite card or board game brings joy and connection, making each moment together special.
Listening to Music
Listening to the music they love together creates a shared moment of joy, filling the room with melodies and memories.
