Payroll & HR Administration

What the role is
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll & HR Administration Officer to join our team. This is a hybrid role, split approximately 50/50 between payroll and HR administration/rostering support.
On payroll days, the role will focus on end-to-end payroll processing and payroll support. On non-payroll days, the role will assist with HR administration and rostering tasks, including providing backup support to the HR Rostering Coordinator.
This role would suit someone who has strong payroll experience, excellent Excel skills and is comfortable working across different systems. Experience in healthcare, aged care or an EBA-driven environment will be highly regarded.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous payroll experience, preferably in a medium to large organisation
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, employee entitlements and payroll compliance
- Experience working with EBAs and/or awards
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence using payroll, HR, rostering or other business systems. Experience with Inerva, Humanforce and AlayaCare will be highly regarded
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the ability to respond professionally to employee queries
- A proactive mindset and willingness to support process improvements
- Strong time management skills
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Process fortnightly payroll accurately and on time
- Process ad-hoc payments as required
- Set up new employees in the payroll system
- Respond to and resolve payroll queries from staff and managers
- Calculate long service leave and other employee entitlements
- Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations and reporting
- Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with relevant awards, EBAs, legislation and internal policies
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data
- Support continuous improvement of payroll processes
HR Administration and Rostering Support
- Assist with rostering administration and related employee queries
- Support the HR team with general administration tasks
- Assist with maintaining employee records and documentation
- Help with onboarding administration and employee changes
- Support improvements in HR and rostering processes
- Assist with reporting and data entry as required
- Complete rostering for the Admin Home Care business sector
- Provide backup support to the HR Rostering Coordinator
