A Message from Our Chairman

All TTHA Staff

Bayswater, 27th. November 2020

Dear Staff of TTHA,

I just heard on the radio that Victoria has achieved 28 days of zero new Covid infections, zero deaths, zero people in hospital, and zero ongoing infections. This means that the virus has been officially eliminated in Victoria and hopefully the other States of Australia will now allow the Country to open up. I don’t know about you, but I felt a huge sense of relief, pride and quite emotional.

The past months have been tough for the whole community but none more so than in Aged Care. TTHA has taken the view to apply the strictest infection control measures whilst trying to balance the mental health consequences for our Residents. This we could only do with the full co-operation of our staff. Measures such as influenza vaccination requirements, constant sanitisation, PPE, staff cohorting, single site employment, social distancing and activity restrictions etc. etc. has required a massive effort from all and of course added to the stress of daily life in TTHA. Restricted access has also impacted contracted services and has meant some topics have had to be deferred until now.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Management and Staff of TTHA for the dedication, persistence, and effort you have all put in over the past 8 months. This applies to all Management and Staff be it clinical, kitchen, maintenance, activities, and administration. It refers to all three of our services areas being Home Care, Independent Living, and Residential Care.

The Board sincerely thanks you all for your efforts. The virus has not been eradicated and we have to be prepared to deal with outbreaks until the vast majority of the Australian community has been vaccinated. We have to remain cautious and vigilant but we are up to it.

Sincere thanks,

Paul English
Chairman TTHA
